Wow! This year was our best Christmas Celebration ever! God used several churches and individuals to provide Christmas gifts to over 100 children in 29 families. This year's event was held again at Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Baptist Church, which is also the location of the Augusta Mission Center. Head of the Giant Ministry partnered with churches, individuals, and businesses to sponsor and purchase Christmas gifts for 29 families. The excitement was palatable as gifts were delivered, wrapped, and put together into packages to be distributed to the families during the Christmas Celebration. Several teenagers from Hephzibah Baptist Church came by to help wrap gifts, along with many that saw our Facebook post requesting more help with gift wrapping who came to help.
On the day of the event, the families arrived and enjoyed a mass choir of children singing Christmas carols along with scripture readings that told the story of the true meaning of Christmas. The pastor of Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Baptist Church, Pastor Larry Glover, delivered a stirring Christmas message to all in attendance. The alters were filled with people making decisions during the invitation.
Following the program, a lunch was served (provided by Barney’s Pharmacy) with an opportunity for the volunteers to fellowship with the guests, and pray with them for any needs. The children enjoyed some activities and games as well. After lunch, the gifts were distributed to the families.
Head of the Giant Ministry is so thankful to the many contributors of this event. Several anonymous contributors helped us to provide gift cards to the moms, and purchased gifts for the children. Just Serve, an organization that helps people that are looking to volunteer connect to places that have volunteer opportunities, provided several people that sponsored families and volunteered to wrap gifts and help the day of the event. Augusta Oncology provided a monetary gift that helped us to purchase gifts for families. WKZK gave Renee and Lavond an opportunity to help spread the word about the new shelter that is reopening soon through an on-air interview and a PSA. Other businesses that helped by providing financial contributions and being a toy drop off location were: Pink Dipper in North Augusta, South Star Ambulance service, Kendrick Paint and Body, Anytime Fitness in Evans, Furniture Outlet, Pediatric Partners, and Aspen Dental in Evans on Washington Rd. Several local churches that provided monetary support, volunteers, and purchased gifts: Windsor Spring Baptist Church, Hephzibah Baptist Church, Miracle Making Ministries, The Path Worship Center, Dayspring Baptist Church, Historic Springfield Baptist Church, Stevens Creek Church, West Acres Baptist Church, Friendly Church of God in Christ, Victory Baptist Church, Faith Outreach Christian Life Center, and Illuminate Church. Several families sent messages of thanks to us after enjoying a joyous Christmas day. The greatest gift ever given was our Savior Jesus Christ. It is because of this wonderful gift that we give of ourselves every day to serve homeless men, women, and children to have an opportunity to introduce them to Jesus who can give them eternal life. You can join us in this missionary effort through out the year as volunteer and a financial supporter. Christmas Celebration 2016
Volunteers Make a Difference Head of the Giant Ministry is overjoyed at the outpouring of love to the community at the annual Christmas Celebration. This year Head of the Giant Ministry partnered with two other community ministries, Miracle Making Ministries and Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Baptist Church, while also receiving support from several other local churches and organizations. What a wonderful act of love that demonstrated the type of unity Christ prayed for in John 17. We are going to try to list everyone that we know that was present in some form or another, but if we miss someone, please let us know. These volunteers were awesome!!! Thank you to everyone that participated in this event in any way. Your efforts have gone far to impact someone’s life for the Gospel of Christ.
Thank you to Miracle Making Ministries and The Path Worship Center. They had several volunteers that were present and participated in several aspects of the program from organizing and sponsoring over 20 families to singing in the program, and bringing the gospel message that stirred many hearts. Many families were blessed this Christmas season with gifts for their children, and the best part is that they heard the Gospel preached with great clarity and wisdom. The seed of the good news of Christ was planted in many hearts during the service, and we are waiting in expectation of what God will manifest through this event. We are indebted to everyone that was involved in helping Miracle Making Ministries for this event. God blessed in so many ways through all of you.
Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Baptist Church provided volunteers to help with opening the building, cleaning and set up, food prep and service, clean up, and parking. The church also contributed to the purchase of materials for food and supplies to include several $15 gift cards for the moms Christmas cards. What a blessing this church has been to Head of the Giant Ministry’s efforts to help homeless families in the CSRA. Their friendship is ministry is greatly valued.
WAFJ 88.3 North Augusta, SC included Head of the Giant Ministry in their annual Giving Tree event. Local families pick an ornament from the tree with information about another local family in need this Christmas, and provide gifts for that family. The families that were sponsored through the Giving Tree received many blessings that are sure to make their season bright. As with every event for Head of the Giant Ministry, the Gospel was preached, Christ was lifted, and a meal was provided. Many volunteers ministered and prayed with these families.
Chick-fil-A of North Augusta, SC called and donated 300 bags of chips and 300 of their delicious Chocolate Chunk cookies. This was a huge blessing! This donation saved us lots of money from the food budget to be applied to ensuring more families were helped this year with gifts. Chick-fil-A of North Augusta has been a long standing supporter of our ministry to the homeless. For the last several years, the store has been donating the salads and other cold foods that otherwise would be wasted. Chick-fil-A provides the freshest products as possible, so salads not sold on Saturday cannot be sold on Monday when they re-open. Chick-fil-A is closed on Sundays so that their employees can spend time with their families. Their long running generosity to the community is just one of the reasons this restaurant experiences such success. They have a raving fan base that has been earned in part by the attitude of serving others that Chick-fil-A is known for.
Friendly Church of God In Christ provided transportation for several of Head of the Giant’s guests that have no transportation available to them. They also served as greeters and ministered to the guests through witnessing and prayer. This ministry of prayer was such a blessing to many guests and volunteers. Windsor Spring Baptist Church has been a supporter of Head of the Giant Ministry for many years. The volunteers that came out helped in many aspects of the event, from being a part of the program, to providing the audio/visual aspect of the program, to cooking and serving food, to sponsor additional families, purchasing gift cards for the moms, and clean up. I am grateful to be able to worship with this special group of believers. I personally thank God for each of you every day.
Thank you to Dr. Boudreaux and members of the Cross-Culture Commission for supplying hamburgers and paper products for the meal, and allowing this event to be held at the Augusta Mission Center. It is a blessing to serve the Lord with you all. Thank you for your on-going support. Thank you to North Augusta Church for the generous donation of gift cards that were distributed to all of the moms. This church has been providing support in many different ways over the last two years. What a blessing this church is to Head of the Giant Ministry.
Thank you to Illuminate Church and to their pastor and his family, Brandon and Brittney May. Illuminate church has been partnering with Head of the Giant Ministry for about a year and a half. They have a burden for reaching the lost with the Gospel and understand that it is about reaching people where they are. They provided many of the gift cards that were needed for this event along with personalized cards of encouragement for the guests. It is a joy to serve the Lord with this church.
Thank you to Girls In Real Life Situations (GIRLS) and Women on the Rise Now, they reached out to us to serve at this event, and assisted in the program as well as serving food and drinks. Their infectious joy brought a sweet spirit to the entire event, and we look forward to working with them again in the future.
Thank you to Church of Love and Pastor Bell for providing gift cards for the moms, and transporting the grill that was used to cook the food. They donated lots of toys and goodies last year that were distributed to families throughout the CSRA, and it was a joy to have them participate again this year. We are blessed to have the friendship in ministry with this church.
To all the other volunteers that faithfully serve others through HGM, we could not do any of this without your faithful support. Your personal influence in the lives of the families served by HGM has made an impact in those families. To those that support Head of the Giant Ministry financially, your contributions are being used to reach homeless and needy families for the Lord. Thank you for all your support and prayers.
Christmas Celebration 2015 for guests that have stayed at HGM's Women and Children's Shelter.
HGM's staff and volunteers are excited to report that we were able to provide Christmas gifts to 28 families this Christmas Season. Several families were not able to attend the event due to sickness and conflicting work schedules, but those that attended enjoyed all the festivities. We had over 100 volunteers from the following churches to attend the event and serve the guests: Windsor Spring Baptist Church, Hephzibah Baptist Church, Wildwood Christian Church, Greater Young Zion Baptist Church, Tabernacle Baptist Church, Victory Baptist Church, Steven's Creek, Illuminate, Friendly Church of God in Christ, First Presbyterian, St. Luke's, Good Shepherd Baptist Church, and Trinity on the Hill. This outpouring of Christ's love shown through the participation of so many local churches, really touched our guests hearts. One guest commented "I never knew this many churches cared about me and my family." Wow! I know that God is very pleased when His people come together for the common purpose of loving others. Praise be to God for all that He did to make this event a success. This was truly an awesome work of God!
